For all the bustle that cinemas experienced last year with some of the greatest directors and actors coming on board to make the phenomenon that was Barbenheimer, this year too with a culmination of Deadpool & Wolverine, It Ends With Us, and Joker: Folie à Deux dared to match its pace. And it was almost successful in doing so, until Todd Philips presented his Joker, finding himself a hair length away from earning a butchering certificate.

Joker: Folie à Deux was at the receiving end of massive criticism from all around, and not even the DC cushioning could have made its box office fall less hurtful. Much like with everything, some people have found the golden lining in the movie. However, it was Quentin Tarantino and Hideo Kojima's take on the movie that had an already enraged audience picking up forks.

Fans stand crossed at Joker: Folie à Deux even after Quentin Tarantino and Hideo Kojima's support

In his interview with The Bret Easton Ellin podcast, Quentin Tarantino went on about just how much he had enjoyed the movie. From praising Joaquin Phoenix's performance to further applauding every aspect of the movie, the maestro did not hold back. The case was similar for Hideo Kojima, as well. However, the backlash they garnered was not for their review or opinion but because of the crowd that would now change its opinion of the movie following their take.

The reviews have unleashed a full-blown war between fans who claim to have liked the movie from the get-go and those accusing them of liking it simply because Tarantino and Kojima said so.

And even if it does go on to become a cult classic like many claim that it will, the movie remains one of the most lethal box office duds for now and the damage it has brought to the legacy of the character remains unredeemable.
