Queen Elizabeth ‘Wanted’ to Attend Princess Lilibet’s First Birthday, but Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Did Not ‘Allow’
Like the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, her kids too, have remained quite alienated from the royal family. Although the Hollywood actress-turned-royal started off well with the House of Windsor, things eventually fell out. And what was sowed by the elders was ultimately reaped by the children. Be it the royal kids or those estranged in California, both have had their equal shares of inconvenience. While the royals at Buckingham under Queen Elizabeth could never come out of their shell, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet could never experience royalty.
Prince Archie was born and brought up for a few days on the Palace premises. His younger sister, however, never stepped into the royal sphere, leaving the former Queen with a sense of regret.

In the light of the Queen’s first death anniversary, various unheard stories have surfaced on the internet. Some also link to his youngest great-grandchildren of Sussex, with whom she reasonably shared a complicated relationship. Royal butler Paul Burrell opened up to Mirror how Queen Elizabeth was deprived of the chance to meet her tiny namesake. “Even on Lilibet’s first birthday, the Queen didn’t see her. She saw her the day before,” said the former royal staff to the outlet.
For the youngest princess of the Windsors, the Queen even had a birthday cake ready with one candle on it marking little Lilibet’s first birthday last year. However, unfortunately, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle never turned up. And “that candle was never lit,” the butler added.
Not only did they snub the Queen, they actually excluded her from the Palace celebrations.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did come to the Palace to celebrate at the Frogmore Cottage. The Queen, however, was not in attendance. The couple celebrated with the Tindall family. Reports say that the Waleses were also invited, lending an “olive branch”, though did not show up. Paul Burrell further continued, stating how the Sussex couple retreated back to America without even meeting the Queen.
Burrell continued stating how the next day the Queen asked if they could catch up for tea. Alas, her staff informed her that they had already left. “What do you mean they’ve gone?” she said. “Oh no, they never said goodbye,‘” added the butler, speaking of the Queen’s shattered hopes. It is persistent to note that it is not only the Queen but Markle’s father Thomas Markle and the children’s other grandparents who did not have quite a chance with the Sussex royals.
