Late Queen Elizabeth II and Her Paddington Bear Collab Bags the 2023 BAFTA Awards Months After Her Demise

Queen Elizabeth seems to be still fetching popularity in the House of Windsor even after her death. The late monarch has accorded various milestones to her name. Be it the longest-serving monarch or the longest-living overtaking Queen Victoria, she has got some interesting big wins in the period of her reign. Adding to all the royal highlights, the late Queen has also got some filmy firsts for the royals. Breaking away from the royal norms, Queen Elizabeth II once appeared in a skit that is currently some accolades overdue and well-deserved. 

The unexpected collaboration between the Paddington movie and the late Queen bagged a special prize at the British Academy Film Award. People Magazine reported that the platinum Jubilee special has beat the finale of the Channel 4 comedy Derry Girls in the run to win the Memory Moment gong. The 2 minutes-long video segment where the Queen shares all tea with the Paddington Bear has thus brought back flashbacks of the Queen and her cheeky acting skills.

Simon Farnaby, of the comic drama, paid a heartfelt homage to the late Queen during his acceptance speech. At the Royal Festival Hall in London, he honored the royal in his touching remarks. In the course of the same, he highlighted her intimate relationship with the public. The cruise line also affirmed that the Memorable Moment Award at the BAFTAs is the only award that is chosen by the public.

Thanking the entire team, the stars went overwhelmed reminiscing about the former Queen. 

A touching Tribute to Queen Elizabeth II by the Paddington 

Recalling the Platinum Jubilee special, Farnaby affirmed that the Queen undoubtedly had a “joyful jubilee tea” with the Paddington Bear that day. And it was extremely unfortunate for the entire crew to not have the most deserving cast amongst themselves. It was undoubtedly the Queen herself. “Thank you, ma’am, for everything,” acknowledged the actor with a heavy heart concluding his speech.

The segment aired a short and specific scene of Buckingham Palace with the Queen having a great time with Bear. Nonetheless, the skit was no less than a cherry on top at the royal highlight. UK’s late monarch sat with the beloved children’s book character sharing some tea and delicious marmalade sandwiches. The episode is famously known as “Ma’amalade Sandwich Your Majesty?“.

The video aired back in 2022, marking her marvelous 70 years of reign. It is even said to surprise her own family members at the event.
