The royal ties may have loosened but, no force can cut the unbreakable thread connecting a grandmother and her grandchild. After Prince Archie’s birth, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their home in Montecito, California. The challenges of the ongoing COVID pandemic made it even harder for the late queen to spend time with her grandchild. Yet, where love exists, a way always emerges. Prince Harry once shared how the late queen sustained her relationship with Prince Archie despite the physical distance between them. 

The Duke of Sussex also talked about the special gift that Queen Elizabeth handed over to Prince Archie upon Meghan Markle’s request. 

Queen Elizabeth’s gift ensured Prince Archie woke up with a smile every day 

Prince Harry made an appearance on James Corden’s The Late Late Show, where he opened up about the special connection between the late queen and Prince Archie. Prince Harry shared that when the queen asked about Prince Archie’s Christmas wish, Markle suggested a “waffle maker”. The Queen then promptly dispatched one to California for her beloved grandchild. Prince Harry chuckled as he revealed that Prince Archie now awaits a plate of waffles, every morning, made even more special by Markle’s “beautiful organic mix”.

James Corden’s eyebrows hit the ceiling when Prince Harry dropped the revelation about the Queen arranging for a waffle maker to reach Santa Barbara. “I can’t get my head around it”, said the host. Prince Harry also shared that throughout the lockdown, Prince Archie and Queen Elizabeth maintained their strong bond through regular video calls. While little Prince Archie was happy with a waffle maker, this year, he hoped to upgrade to a fancier Christmas gift.

It seems that Prince Archie does have fancier choices when it comes to presents. And the same was shared recently by Meghan Markle when she attended the screening event of Netflix’s short film, The After, inspired by the director Missan Harriman.

Prince Archie’s Christmas present wish for 2023 

Missan Harriman, a close friend of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, wears many hats as a photographer and filmmaker. Not only is he the creative mind behind one of the most iconic portraits of the Sussexes, but he has also taken on the role of teaching Prince Archie the art of photography. However, things took a funny turn when Prince Archie insisted on having a Leica camera, like Harriman’s, which comes with a price tag of around 10k dollars. 

Meghan Markle stood her ground, firmly deciding not to gift her young son such an expensive camera. The 42-year-old told Prince Archie, “You are not getting a Leica,” and added, “Not even for Christmas”. The Sussexes, however, made sure to make the Christmas celebrations grand for their children at their Montecito home, with all their friends and family.
