Stereotypes and prejudices marred Meghan Markle‘s entry into the royal family, partly driven by her former profession as an actress. The archaic norms and expectations imposed upon her by the royal establishment and their supporters seemed at odds with her independent spirit and individuality. It was clear that the British media was not expecting Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to tie the knot, and as the Duke would go on to reveal in his bombshell of a memoir, neither was the royal family. Especially Prince William.

Prince Harry and Prince William, as depicted by the numerous photos from the earlier years, were two peas in a pod. In fact, the Duke had talked to Prince William and Kate Middleton about Markle among the first people. But his reaction was unlike anything that the Duke of Sussex had imagined.

Prince William was not happy with Meghan Markle or her former occupation

While the debate surrounding the Sussexes and the royal family, despite its longevity, still remains murky, there is one thing that has become clear through it. The royal institution is a tradition-bound institution that resists change. But just how much change is resisted was capsulized through Prince Harry’s best-selling memoir. More specifically, the part where the Duke of Sussex discussed his plans of proposing with his brother Prince William. But instead of congratulating or supporting his decision, Prince William reiterated the fact that Markle was an “American actress.” According to Prince Harry, his brother made his wife’s former profession sound like a “convicted felon.”

In his memoir, Prince Harry has gone into detail about the various instances of discrimination against Markle. And there are plenty that paint Prince William and Kate Middleton in a bad light. In fact, according to the Duke’s memoir, it was more his brother and wife than anyone else in the family that played a part in them moving to the United States.

Prince Harry has detailed many instances in his memoir. And the one where he is discouraging the Duke of Sussex from proposing to Meghan Markle is among the lighter ones. The Californian royal has earned a few points against his brother with his memoir. However, Prince William is plotting his revenge in silence.

Is Prince William plotting against Prince Harry?

The once-close bond between Prince Harry and Prince William has taken a bitter turn since the Megxit saga unfolded. This shift in their relationship serves as a compelling subplot in the ongoing drama surrounding the Californian royals and the British royals. Moreover, the Duke of Sussex was the first to poke the bear as he exposed family turmoil in Spare. And Prince William may not release a memoir owing to his stiff upper lip, but he has his ways of getting back.

While it is unlikely that Prince William and Prince Harry will face off on the same grounds ever again, the brothers almost always align their campaigns with each other. The most recent example is how the brothers brushed each other off in Singapore, where the Duke had been visiting due to his polo event. Therefore, Prince Harry’s revenge may be a best-selling memoir, but Prince William’s revenge is more subtle and effective.
