After being set up on a blind date by a mutual friend, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry entered the marriage bliss in the year 2018. The Prince officially proposed to Markle while they were cooking a quiet dinner at their home. After Clarence House announced their engagement, fans had been eagerly waiting to catch a glimpse of Markle’s ring. The royal couple finally gave their fans what they wanted by releasing a portrait at Frogmore House in Windsor, showcasing the one-a-kind three-stone engagement ring.

However, recently the $465,000 ring has been missing from the Duchess’ hand, making Prince William concerned. The reason was that the ring had precious diamonds from the Duke’s late mother, Princess Diana’s collection.

The Duchess of Sussex made several appearances recently, where the media spotted the 42-year-old without her engagement ring. This includes her recent appearance at the Invictus Games in Germany, which has given rise to many speculations by eagle-eyed fans. The news of the Duchess’ missing ring reportedly turned the Royal palace upside down as well. An insider told New Idea Magazine recently that the ring’s disappearance “set off alarm bells” at the palace, and the Duke of Cambridge “is trying to find answers on his own”. 

Earlier, the Sussexes representative told ET Online that the ring has been under repairs owing to some loose settings of stones. However, it has been months since then and Prince William is allegedly concerned. Thus, he has been covering all bases to find the valuable jewelry piece. He has even been trying to reach out to mutual friends to get to the bottom of it. The insider added that the elder Prince has always been very “protective of his mother’s legacy” and the jewelry is also a part of it. 

Given the already rocky relationship between the royal brothers, this ring could spark another ugly dispute between them. 

Are Prince Harry and Prince William mending their bond

The fallout between the sons of the King became the topic of discussion after the 39-year-old revealed in his documentary that they were on “different paths” in life. The royal rift deepened when the Sussexes decided to step down from their royal duties in the year 2020. Although the media spotted the brothers together on several occasions, there have been no signs of reconciliation between them. In April 2023, the Daily Mail reported that the Prince of Wales had no plans to speak to his brother. 

Even The Mirror’s Royal editor testified to this and claimed that there have been no positive developments in their brotherhood. Further proving the rift, the National Portrait Gallery removed a painting of Prince Harry and Prince William this year. Although the upcoming summit between the Sussexes and the royals is making people hopeful, one cannot overlook how the Sussexes were not invited to the royal gathering in Balmoral despite being present in Europe. Given such circumstances, this ring could trigger another major conflict between the brothers.
