Prince Harry Wins the Visa Battle, US Court Rules in Favor of the Duke Blocking Heritage Foundation’s Disclosure Request
Prince Harry's relocation to the US was not all fun and smiles. While he successfully shielded his family from the relentless UK media and paparazzi, he unwittingly exposed himself to intense scrutiny from American foundations and institutions. The Heritage Foundation, among others, challenged his visa status, sparking a high-profile legal battle. According to a verdict ruled out by the US Court of Columbia, (via BBC) US Judge Carl Nichols has ruled in favor of keeping Prince Harry's US visa application private. The judge stated that "the public does not have a strong interest in disclosure of the duke's immigration records." Additionally, Nichols emphasized that Prince Harry, like any foreign national, has a legitimate privacy interest in his immigration status.
The ruling comes after the conservative Heritage Foundation filed a lawsuit seeking to disclose the records. However, Judge Nichols ultimately decided that the public's interest in disclosure is "outweighed by the duke's privacy interest," ensuring Prince Harry's visa application remains confidential. This decision protects Prince Harry's personal information from public scrutiny.
Nonetheless, the foundation had their legitimate reason to find a lawsuit in the first place.

Prominent Washington DC-based think tank, the Heritage Foundation Filed a lawsuit last year arguing that Prince Harry's admission to drug use should have made him ineligible to enter the United States. According to US law, individuals who admit to or are convicted of certain crimes, including drug offenses, can be deemed inadmissible. This includes crimes such as drug manufacturing, transportation, possession for sale, and simple possession.
Prince Harry moved to the United States, following the renunciation of his royal life with his wife Meghan Markle, in 2020. Two years after settling, he released the popular tell-all memoir, wherein he admitted to substance abuse. Prince Harry stated that cocaine "didn't do anything for me," but noted that marijuana "actually really did help me.” The lawsuit questioned whether the government properly vetted Prince Harry and followed procedures when admitting him to the country, given his public admissions of drug use.
