Prince Harry Picks His "closest mates" Over Meghan Markle to Celebrate His 40th Birthday
It is often said that Prince Harry does not feel as settled or connected in California as he did back in his homeland. The reason behind this is often pointed to his old friends. Even though the Sussexes have built a prominent social circle in Hollywood, Prince Harry is reportedly feeling a strong pull towards the friends he grew up with. And with each passing day, the Duke seems to be making this feeling more obvious.
With Prince Harry’s 40th birthday just around the corner, he has planned to celebrate it with his pals. And these plans do not include his wife, Meghan Markle.

Prince Harry is turning 40 on September 15. To mark this milestone, the Duke is reportedly heading off on a boys trip, which, according to The Sun, will not include Meghan Markle. While the Prince will be off to "enjoy a weekend getaway with a few of his closest mates", Markle will stay back at home in Montecito with their kids. But that does not mean he is skipping out on celebrating with his family altogether.
The rumored boys' trip is expected to follow a private birthday bash at the Sussexes' Montecito mansion, with only close family members. It is still not confirmed where exactly the Prince will spend his weekend with his friends, but considering his love for solo trips back to the UK, he might just hop over there for a few days. This could also explain why Markle is not joining him, given the security concerns and her alleged personal issues with Britain in general. Prince Harry’s plans are quite different from how Markle celebrated her recent birthday.
While Prince Harry is jetting off with his friends, Meghan Markle chose to celebrate her birthday surrounded by her family.

Meghan Markle turned 43 last month. And the Duchess chose to celebrate her birthday with her husband, Prince Harry, and their kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, at their Montecito mansion. She also hosted a private function that brought together her nearest and dearest, along with some of her closest friends. The couple was reportedly treated to an at-home cookout, which was organized by her husband, according to former royal butler Grant Harrold.
Harrold told The New York Post that Prince Harry is “a gentleman and a good cook.” He also mentioned that the couple enjoys summer BBQs, so they might invite friends over for a relaxed dinner. Now, it remains to be seen how the Duchess is going to return the gesture to Prince Harry on his birthday before he heads off with his friends.
