Prince Harry Once Revealed How He Is Not “Immune to Effects of Systemic Racism”

The Duke and the Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made their detest of social evils no secret. Regardless of the criticism aimed at the two, the California royals have not stepped back to fight against customs that do not align with the modern morals of humankind. Be it the Victorian stoicism, tabloid debacles, or even racism for that matter, the estranged couple has stuck firm to their virtues. 

Adhering to the same, the odd one out of the House of Windsor, Prince Harry has always kept his priorities straight. Behind the lucrative multi-million-dollar deals that the tabloids thrash him about, hides an ultimate motive for breaking through the societal backward traditions and norms.

He established his first foot into his resolution the day he bid goodbye to Buckingham. Always a fighter for his wife, who has often fallen prey to controversies regarding racism, the Duke had once spoken his heart out on the same issue. The Duke spoke exclusively to People for the January Cover the day his Memoir hit the shelves. 

We live in a world with systemic racism, and none of us are immune from the effects of that,” said the Duke, speaking of racism. He further added how being born into a royal family, he has had plenty of privileges. However, having his beloved Meghan Markle in her life, his life changed upside down. Along with the bliss of marriage came a whole new spectrum of struggles that people like Markle had to fight through.

He thus started looking at things with a wider perspective rather than just viewing them as royal. 

The Duke is more connected and grounded than he was before 

For the Duke, taking a stance against unconscious bias came quite a challenge to him. The reason being the horsemen of the same started from his own family. However, in the course of being married to a woman of color, he realized “It’s an ever-evolving process.” Moreover, it requires the courage to stand against your own.

It “requires us to step up and speak out where we can — even when it’s our friends, families or loved ones,” added the estranged Prince. Nonetheless, despite the backfire he received for doing good, the Prince is happy and content with what he is now. He is a better husband, father, and human because of the path that he chose.
