The 2023 Invictus is now in full swing and, for the first time, Germany will be having the honor of hosting the noble event. Prince Harry arrived at Düsseldorf, Germany, on 9th September to kick off the sixth Invictus Games. Founded in 2014, the game has been aiding the rehabilitation of injured veterans for almost a decade. The Invictus is not just some project through which the Duke seeks to pursue business opportunities. As someone who was a part of the British Royal Army for 10 years, the Paralympic game holds much significance in his life.

Donning a navy suit with a light gray tie, Prince Harry waved at his fans outside of the City Hall and gave a moving speech at the opening ceremony. The Duke touched upon the topics of self-discovery and teamwork and paused for a moment to acknowledge the veterans participating in the event. He also gave a shout-out to the new nations that would be debuting in the 2023 game and hinted at his wife’s inclination towards Nigeria. Resounding cheers and a heartwarming standing ovation from the audience followed the Prince’s speech.

The Sussex royal also tried his German-speaking skills at the ceremony and said that the past year had gone by in a flash. The 38-year-old made a few jokes by offering a special mention of his wife’s Nigerian genes. In Meghan Markle’s absence the duke said, “Since my wife discovered she’s of Nigerian descent, it’s likely to get a little more competitive this year“.

While the Suits star was absent from the opening ceremony, she will come on board for the second half of the game, hopefully with trend-setting fashion inspirations.
