Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Financial Downfall Starkly Contrasts With King Charles’ Growing Riches
The differences between Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and the royal family have only grown with time. It seems that their freedom flight from the United Kingdom to the United States did not just take them away from the royal family, but also its riches. While the Californian royals signed a head-turning deal with Netflix not very long after their arrival in the United States, three years and a whole new set of rules by the new ruler, King Charles has found them at a much desperate turn.
With their $42 Million Montecito mansion, $100 million Netflix deal, and Prince Harry‘s $20 million earnings from his memoir, it is hard to find a hole in the Sussexes’ pockets. But an equally lucrative Spotify deal crashing down in an outcry of “gritters” against the Archetypes couple makes it possible. The plot further thickens as the Sussexes struggle to sign any more deals to sustain their wealth while their estranged family progressively grows richer.

The fallout with Spotify has led to a string of claims about there being trouble in paradise. While the trouble was earlier restricted to a few clashes between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, it is now also proving true for the Sussexes’ penny problems. From claims of Meghan Markle “struggling” in Hollywood to criticism over Prince Harry using tax money for his court cases, it is not a good look for the Sussexes. Now more so than ever as King Charles edges towards receiving a pay hike of over 45%. This translates to a boost from 86,000,000 pounds ($112,272,993.40) to 125,000,000 pounds (163,683,266.33).
Keeping the total estimate aside, the hike itself is great enough to proudly rival any deal that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle sign. The rise in grants comes after it was assumed that King Charles will be dealing with a pay cut amidst the growing financial burdens.
As they disposed of their royal positions, not only does King Charles reign supreme in ranking but also in wealth. But with the Californian royals still carrying the titles of Duke and Duchess, one wonders if the Sussexes really do not hold a penny in the growing wealth of the royal family.

When they were a part of the royal family, King Charles paid for the Sussexes through the Duchy of Cornwall. While their annual expense was estimated to be around $800,000 as per Forbes, a lot of mud was splashed regarding the cost of Meghan Markle’s high-end fashion. It was said that the monarch was not happy with the amount the Duchess of Sussex was spending on her outfits, even if that meant a page in every fashion connoisseur’s books.
This may or may not have translated as a cut from the couples’ earnings as they made the move to the United States. Now, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry do not receive any money from the royal family. It is unclear if this was a voluntary decision taken by the couple or King Charles himself. Given how he is pretty strict on non-working royals spending the crown’s fortune, it could easily be the latter.
