Prince Archie Leaps Into the Top 20 of British Favorites While Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Lose Their Grip on the US

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have long been suspected of losing their touch in the US, where they have been trying to carve out a career after leaving the UK. There have been reports that their Hollywood friendships are starting to fade as well. Whether there is any truth to that or not, the Sussexes certainly have their fair share of haters in both the US and the UK. However, that sentiment does not really extend to their children, as recently evidenced by Prince Archie, the Duke and Duchess’s first child.

Prince Archie is surprisingly popular among the British for something he should totally credit to his parents.

On the game show Jeopardy!, a royal question was recently posed to accountant Julie Phillips. She picked a clue from the category "Top British Baby Names", which read-"This name that's in the Top 20 belongs to a boy born in 2019 who's sixth in line to the British throne." While Phillips answered correctly with Prince Archie's name, the clue once again highlighted the popularity of the five-year-old among the British. Meanwhile, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry recently got a loud and clear reminder that America does not care about them.

In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, Eric Trump, Donald Trump’s son, was asked about Prince Harry’s long-running visa controversy. He stated that even if his dad wins the election, the Duke has nothing to worry about, as he simply does not “give a damn” about the 40-year-old or his “unpopular” wife, and neither, he claimed, does America. However, even in America, Prince Archie’s name is a hit.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle clearly put a lot of thought into naming their first child. However, not everyone was on board with their choice when it was first announced. Many felt that Prince Archie’s name, rather than giving off a royal vibe, had more of a comic book character ring to it, referencing the American Archie Comic. Yet, right after the official naming, people began warming up to it.

In 2018, 209 baby boys were named Archie, but right after the little Prince was born, that number shot up to 381. And it was not just among the British; the name Archie hit its popularity in the US as well. In 2019, Archie leaped from number 988 in 2018 to 672, making it the name with the 10th biggest jump on the boys' list in the States. It is safe to say that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry really made a good decision.
