Prince Archie Gets a Casual Mention From Mother Meghan Markle on Her Colombia Tour With Prince Harry
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry recently traveled to Colombia at the invitation of the Vice President, drawing considerable criticism for what many view as a royal-like tour. Despite the familiar backlash from the royal sphere, the Sussex couple received a warm reception in Colombia as big as the catalog of disappointment. Although the power couple remained unfazed by the scrutinizing expert comments, they were undeniably affected by missing their children. Consequently, the mother of two seized the first chance she got to mention Prince Archie.
Despite being on a four-day visit to the South American nation with a busy schedule of engagements, Markle’s motherly affection bore visibility, even amid her work.

On the second day of their visit to Colombia, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry went to Santa Fe school, Colegio La Giralda. Aiming to highlight the importance of psychosocial well-being in education, they visited a kindergarten class to work on puzzles and showcase their Spanish-speaking abilities. While the Duke asked the students their names and ages in Spanish, the Duchess mentioned their 5-year-old son, Prince Archie, saying, “You’re the same age as my son” as was revealed by Father Greg Boyle to PEOPLE recently.
Boyle of Homeboy Industries, an organization that aids individuals transitioning from incarceration, praised Markle for her impressive Spanish-speaking skills. Her proficiency was not only surprising but also noteworthy. Markle's Spanish abilities were sharpened during her internship at the US Embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and her studies abroad in Madrid, Spain. While it may have been a revelation, what truly touched people was how she mentioned Prince Archie at the very first opportunity.
With the Duke and Duchess surrounded by young students who reminded them of their children, it is only natural that they were even more aware of their absence. Nonetheless, the students did their best to make the most of the couple’s packed four-day Colombia visit.

As Meghan Markle and Prince Harry visited the kindergarten class, their longing for their children was ever-present. However, the visit was filled with highlights, according to Father Greg Boyle's conversation with PEOPLE. After engaging in puzzle-solving and Spanish-speaking activities, the children performed a song for the couple and presented them with gifts and letters. The school visit was further enhanced by performances across the grounds, where the children, dressed in traditional Colombian attire, showcased cumbia songs accompanied by live percussion.
Markle and Prince Harry also explored the historical memory museum and toured the garden. Three trees were planted in the “outdoor classroom,” established in 2020 for students to appreciate nature and honor the nation’s farmers, in recognition of the Sussexes’ visit. While they also visited the social and emotional gym, nothing probably compared to the Spanish class activities, where Markle was immediately reminded of Prince Archie.
