Jason Momoa is currently working on the upcoming A Minecraft Movie, which he will be both producing and starring in. Valkyrae, a live streamer and YouTuber, who claimed to have made a cameo in the movie, accused Momoa of being less than courteous to the crew during a chat with fellow streamer JasonTheWeen. It has been alleged that Momoa was "yelling" at crew members on set, which Valkyrae found to be quite "disappointing." Valkyrae is still questioning whether Momoa was just deep in character, but either way, she was taken aback.
“I would not be happy working under these conditions,” added Valkyrae. A Minecraft Movie is a direct adaptation of the popular video game of the same name. However, from the trailer’s reception itself, which has 1.5 million dislikes compared to 660K likes, there are worries that the film might sink. But could things have turned out differently if they had managed to bring Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham buddy into the fold?
Rob McElhenney was initially supposed to direct A Minecraft Movie, but his 2.5 years of work came crashing down soon.

In 2015, Warner Bros. announced Rob McElhenney as the director for A Minecraft Movie. As a huge Minecraft fan, McElhenney was excited to take on the project. But after over two years of work, he was abruptly pulled from the project. In an interview with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he revealed what went wrong, saying, “---k them at this point.” McElhenney had proposed a story about people taking control of their experience in this digital world, which Warner Bros. was eager to back with a $150 million budget.
When Greg Silverman left in 2016, however, Toby Emmerich took over and did not buy into McElhenney’s vision. The It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star shared that he does not hold a grudge, but he was disappointed since he came so close to making the movie. Even another friend of Ryan Reynolds, Shawn Levy, was roped into making the film until he left the project as well. And now, with new controversies surrounding the 2025 film, thanks to the DCU star Jason Momoa, who knows what the future holds for A Minecraft Movie?
