During an interview with Collider’s Perri Nemiroff, Blair shared that he was surprised the R-rating even got approved. Blair explained that he fought hard for the studio to green light this version of the film, and his persistence paid off.

The R-rating is crucial for this reboot because it allows the movie to fully embrace its over-the-top violence and dark comedy. It includes strong violence and gore, language throughout, sexual references, and brief graphic nudity.
