Patrick Schwarzenegger recently took to Twitter to respond to The Hollywood Handle's post about The Fall Guy's release on digital platforms. The Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt starrer, which has fallen flat with $127M so far on a $140M budget, was decided to be made digital by Universal. However, the Midnight Sun actor sees an issue with this approach. He argued that it does not allow the movie enough time to generate revenue in theaters. “This Is the larger problem”, said Schwarzenegger.
Patrick Schwarzenegger observed that The Fall Guy, which he thought was “great,” was given just “a month before you can watch on a streamer”. He took issue with the movie being available digitally despite making $10 million this week. Schwarzenegger was not the only one to speak out against this new trend of simultaneous digital and theatrical releases. Fans have also taken a stand against it.
The decision to release the movie digitally has sparked public outrage and criticism for The Fall Guy makers.

Despite earning praise from critics, high ratings among moviegoers, and even incorporating world-class music, The Fall Guy has disappointed at the box office. This prompted the producers to arrange for a streaming release shortly after its theatrical run. However, this decision has sparked public outrage. Many see it as a fatal blow to the industry, and social media has been flooded with fans' worries about the same. They pointed out how people are increasingly choosing to wait for films to arrive on streaming services rather than heading to theaters.
Following this, netizens pointed to the change in consumer habits as a result of the ascent of streaming giants. The Fall Guy will be hitting small screens such as VUDU, AppleTV+, and Prime Video, with the latter setting a Tuesday release and offering pre-orders at $24.99. As for Patrick Schwarzenegger's The White Lotus, fans should not expect it to grace screens until 2025.
