‘Outlander’ Star Sam Heughan Proves His Geek Side With 2 Surprising Movies He Watched in 2 Weeks
After the COVID-19 pandemic, the box office dip’s ripple effects were felt far and wide, with theaters as deserted as a ghost town. Yet, some blockbusters seized their golden tickets and made theaters the hotspot of cinephiles again. Although this year began on a rather disappointing note with the ravaging wildfires in LA, Outlander star, Sam Heughan did not slow down on his theater-going ethos amidst the consecutive cancelation of premieres and events.
While stars generally get caught up in the busy hours of stardom, let alone give time to other’s projects, Heughan recently revealed having watched two movies in two weeks and none were his own.

In a recent conversation on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Josh Horowitz asked Sam Heughan if he had an opportunity to catch up on any recent releases. Heughan allegedly has had a busy few weeks with his work pursuits landing him in Nepal, followed by Switzerland. However, the Outlander star confessed to having gone to the theatres twice in two weeks for the box-office magnet, Wicked starring Ariana Grande.
“Great, loved it,” Heughan said before jotting down his second run to the cinemas. The actor reportedly also went to watch Lord of the Rings, the extended version. Upon being asked if it was his “first Wicked experience,” Heughan nodded in agreement. However, the Grande starrer made him realize that he really aspires to watch it on stage. In fact, his presence in New York City gives him the perfect chance to do so.
While Sam Heughan’s theatre outing shone all the spotlight on Ariana Grande’s blockbuster, he was not the only A-lister spending their time on Wicked since Ryan Reynolds did it too.
Ryan Reynolds skipped Golden Globes for Ariana Grande’s Wicked
Giving the Golden Globes a pass, Ryan Reynolds reportedly attended the National Board of Review gala. The actor took center stage to introduce honoree Wicked starring Ariana Grande after the organization dubbed the movie the best of 2024. Previously, Page Six reported that Reynolds and Blake Lively would not attend the Golden Globes.

Although they did not offer a reason for their absence, the outlet claimed the skip was planned well before their lawsuit with Justin Baldoni. This served as Reynolds’ first outing in public, following the reports of the legal drama. Given that Reynolds left the Golden day out for Grande’s Wicked, and Sam Heughen has been circling the cinemas for the same reason, it speaks volumes about the Wicked entrance A-listers are caught in.
