Award season notifications are yet again knocking on the door; this time, it is finally for the Oscar glam pop-ups. Presently, the Oscar nominees of 2024 are gearing up for the biggest screen skirmish on March 10 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, Hollywood. As the odds heavily favor the rising stars, who will probably make bold fashion choices from their personal couture hubs on the historic night of the Oscars, fans are also curious about the attire the Oscar venue itself will showcase.

Therefore, it is time to discover whether the venue will stick to its customary red carpet garb or undergo a stylistic transition akin to the 2023 Oscars. But first, let’s get to the root of the cause behind the sudden shift from the red carpet last year.

Why was there no red carpet at the 2023 Oscars?

The red carpet epitomizes grandeur and, from award ceremonies to star-studded premieres to upscale gatherings, this red emblem highlights every special occasion. Hence, it is safe to say that red carpets symbolize prestigious events while a red carpet appearance holds more significance than just a phrase. Yet, for the 95th Academy Awards, when stars were flaunting the glamor of Tinseltown, it was not on a red carpet but a champagne one due to the event’s transition from a daytime event to a night-time ceremony.

Taking this dive from the traditional crimson carpet was indeed a curveball after 62 years of red carpet rollouts, but it had reasons. Conventionally, the Oscars always commence early in the day, leaving the stars covered in drooling sweat with their evening-accurate ensembles. Furthermore, last year, the planners had their eyes on curating an ambiance of calmness to evoke the essence of a beach at dusk. Hence, the creative consultants Raul Avila and Lisa Love made their final decision to opt for a champagne-hued carpet to protect attendees from the heat waves.

Not very long ago, ABC rolled out the complete guide for the upcoming Oscars with schedule and streaming options. According to the time mentioned, the event is supposed to begin from 7.00-10.30 EDT and 4.00-7.30 PDT. Since the timeline alludes to an evening-time event, the probability is that the champagne carpet will possibly make a reprisal this time too.

Earlier, Love did explain that they had the liberty to break the tradition in the face of requirements. Both she and Avila aimed to create a sunset theme before the golden hour to complement the celebrities’ gala appearances. By all indications, from the ceremony’s timeline to its contrast schemes, everything nods at the champagne carpet’s possible return. Therefore, the only thing to wait and watch is whether the champagne carpet event writes history or not.
