The Seed of the Sacred Fig is Mohammad Rasoulof’s 2024 political drama film, which he wrote, directed, and co-produced. The film follows an investigating judge in the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, Iman, who grows distrustful of his wife and daughters following the enigmatic disappearance of his gun amidst nationwide unrest and protests over the death of a young woman. The fictional narrative is said to have been inspired by Iran’s 2022-2023 protests.

The Seed of the Sacred Fig premiered on 24 May 2024 at the 77th Cannes Film Festival where it won the Special Jury Prize. The cast includes Soheila Golestani, Missagh Zareh, Mahsa Rostami, Setareh Maleki, Niousha Akhshi, Amineh Mazrouie Arani, Reza Akhlaghirad, and Shiva Ordooie.
