“He mentions my wife...”- WWE Icon Drew McIntyre Warns to Turn into Oscar Night Will Smith, Following Altercations With Damian Priest
The 2022 Oscar ceremony was famous for all the wrong reasons, courtesy of the infamous slapgate incident between Will Smith and Chris Rock. Since then, the incident has been revisited often in the form of troll and meme trends. Although recent updates cue that Smith and Rock have been moving towards reconciliation with a secret truce treaty in hand, the latest development in the wrestling forefront between WWE icons Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest has reignited an opportunity for an infamous recreation of the Oscar slap as a set standard practice for defending wives now.
McIntyre recently rolled out a public threat towards Priest, albeit with a significant change from the original incident.

In the opening segment of the May 27 episode of Monday Night RAW, Damian Priest provoked the Scottish Warrior by bringing up Drew McIntyre’s wife, Kaitlyn Frohnapfel. McIntyre responded on his X account, posting a picture of Will Smith’s infamous slap incident and warning Priest that he might face a similar confrontation if “he mentions” his wife again.
McIntyre added that, unlike Smith, he might use a brick instead of a hand and would not feel any remorse afterward. Although the wrestlers are already set to clash for the World Heavyweight Champion title, Priest crossed a line by questioning whether McIntyre’s wife would attend the upcoming fight, leading the WWE brawl to transition into a heated exchange on social.
It appears that Smith's slapgate incident has become a playbook for defending one's wife, but as for Smith himself, he has moved on from the controversy.

In an interview with The Mirror this month, Cedric The Entertainer revealed that both Will Smith and Chris Rock have moved past their Oscar incident animosity. He admitted that Smith and Rock recognized the severity of the situation and acknowledged they had "crossed a line." As a result, they are now on the path to reconciliation, having established a secret truce.
Cedric explained that the incident involved more than what was publicly seen, attributing Smith's actions to years of pent-up anger from Rock’s taunts about his relationship with Jada Pinkett Smith. While Smith and Rock may want to bury the incident, the ongoing feud between Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest could potentially unearth the controversy back into the spotlight, resulting in a loss in their efforts to put the bad blood behind them.
