Despite Her Oscar Snub, Margot Robbie Makes Her Mark in 2023
2023 might have been a great year for Margot Robbie with her movie, Barbie, taking over the world. However, that did not last long. Although the film had kick-started the Barbenheimer debate, it was put to rest a month ago when the Oscar nominees were announced. While the world had expected the Australian actress to be put up for the prestigious award, she, along with director Greta Gerwig ended up being snubbed.
The 33-year-old might have missed out on an Oscar nomination. However, it looks like she may have made her way onto the top of another one of Hollywood’s elite list.

According to reports from Forbes, it was recently revealed that Barbie star Margot Robbie was the second highest-paid star of 2023. She ended up earning $59 million from the Greta Gerwig movie alone. The actress was overtaken by the beloved Adam Sandler, who had managed to rake in $73 million. Even her co-star, Ryan Gosling, made his way to the list. However, he was 4th with $43 million.
Other stars like Tom Cruise, Jennifer Aniston, Leonardo DiCaprio, and more also ended up on the list. Robbie, being one of the toppers of the list, should come as no surprise. After all, the 33-year-old’s film had broken expectations and records at the box office. While the movie may have reached massive amounts of success, it was not enough to land the star an Oscar nomination.
Robbie might be out of the running for Best Actress, but some fans still believe that the movie might have a chance of bagging the Best Picture award.

Last month, the Barbenheimer debate ended when Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer emerged victorious with 13 nominations. However, Barbie only managed to bring in 8 with America Ferrera and Ryan Gosling being nominated. Fans were still hoping that the Mattel film could win the Best Picture award, but everything seems to point to the biographical drama winning that one.
After all, the Cillian Murphy film not only swept the Golden Globes but most recently replicated their success at the BAFTA awards as well. With Oppenheimer on a fiery streak this year, it looks like Robbie’s film might have to take the backseat like Emma Stone’s Poor Things and Bradley Cooper’s Maestro.
