Before the Oscars kick off on March 10th, there will be one fancy event going down at a private spot thrown by the British Consulate. British Consul General Emily Cloke will lead the event on March 8th, honoring the UK’s influence on cinema and television, as per The Hollywood Reporter. The event will be all about giving love to the ladies in the movie business on International Women’s Day. It will also feature a showcase of Barbie costumes and a unique portrait gallery acknowledging the women shaking up the industry.
Attendees can indulge in a variety of beverages, including Ridgeview English sparkling wine, Hampton Court handcrafted gin and rum, and Nc’nean whiskey. This event would be in collaboration with the GREAT Britain and Northern Ireland “see things differently” campaign, BAFTA, the British Film Commission, and supported by Visit Britain. As Barbie basks in its well-deserved recognition leading up to the Oscars, its star and producer, Margot Robbie, has shown that an Oscar snub does not dampen her drive.
The actress just reached a massive milestone in her career, outpacing even the Oscar frontrunner Cillian Murphy.

Even though Margot Robbie got the cold shoulder from the Oscars for Best Actress in Barbie, she kept her chin up. Barbie still scored big with eight Academy Award nods. Meanwhile, Robbie’s resilience pushed her on the Forbes list of highest-paid actors for 2023, wherewith her $59 million, she became the second-highest paid star on the list. This achievement was especially noteworthy considering Robbie’s youthful age of 33, in a list largely populated by actors above 52.
This news really flipped things around, showing that age is nothing but a number in Hollywood. Robbie’s financial success served as an inspiration to many budding talents, while the Oppenheimer star was nowhere to be found. It went against the norm of favoring older actors and made everyone rethink how Hollywood pays its stars, as they are always expected to make more than last time.
