In a 2023 interview with The Telegraph, while expressing his delight at having his daughter on board, Nolan explained the genesis of the idea. He recalled that his idea to cast Flora in the shoes came right at the point when she was visiting the Oppenheimer set for a week. Although this casual blowing up of his daughter is quite hilarious, to be exact, Nolan’s other ventures with his children might actually blow many brains. 

Rory Nolan

Banking on the citadel of talent that runs in the blood, Rory Nolan, Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas’s son, also has a compelling resume. Like his elder sister, his journey too has been mirror-like from making space in Nolan’s working titles to appearing in cameos. Hence, while the world may have thought that Flora was the only flag-bearer of Nolan’s legacy to appear in Interstellar, it is not true.

Even Rory Nolan made his hop to the Quantum Express to feature in the hospital scene. However, it was not his first touchdown in the world of acting since before this he briefly appeared in The Dark Knight as the boy on the bus. Furthermore, following Nolan’s adherence to naming working titles after his kids, he named The Dark Knight Rises as “Rory’s First Kiss” during the shooting in Chicago.

Oliver Nolan

Oliver Nolan, son of Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas, makes the point of going big or going home quite transparent with his role as a baby for The Prestige. Oliver portrayed an uncredited role as Jess Borden, who was the daughter of Alfred Borden and Sarah in the 2006 scientific-fantasy thriller.

Besides his sunrise point entry to the acting premises, Nolan also credited two tentative titles on him. First, with Inception’s working title as “Oliver’s Arrow” and second, during the distribution of The Dark Knight, the film received the moniker “Oliver’s Army” in its attempt to deter piracy. Like Oliver, his brother Magnus attempted to defy all odds with a premature introduction to the cinema as well, and the role might leave the audience in a gasp for being behind the blinded curtains.

Magnus Nolan

To catch up to his siblings’ stellar acting profiles, Magnus Nolan first met his eyes with the camera as a 20-month-old for playing the infant version of James Cobb in the 2010 Oscar-nominated action and sci-fi thriller, Inception. His brief cameo came both in the opening beach scene and the beach scene in Cobb’s memory sequence and the hotel lobby. While this is the only film credit of his to date, he did have a working title named after him resembling his siblings.

The filmmaker named the working title of his 2012 action thriller, The Dark Knight Rises as “Magnus Rex” to keep intact his streak of naming draft titles on his children. While this concludes the narrative of individuals representing Nolan’s cinematic legacy, there is a possibility that in the future, the industry’s history will not be shaped by a single reflection of Nolan but by a team of four, possibly creating Nolan’s own cohort of Hollywood conquerors.
