‘Oppenheimer’ Star Cast Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt and Florence Pugh Unite at the BAFTAs Screening
Everyone remembers the time when the world was divided into two factions over two record-breaking blockbuster movies, Oppenheimer and Barbie. Although Barbie outshone Oppenheimer in terms of numbers, Christopher Nolan’s movie quietly amassed its own impressive box-office returns and records. It stood as Nolan’s highest-grossing film to date, surpassing even hits like Tenet and Batman Begins. Now, almost five months after its release, the star cast came together once again.
Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, and Florence Pugh recently attended the heritage screening of the BAFTA Awards to celebrate the incredible achievement of the movie.

Every year BAFTA conducts its heritage screening for movies and shows it considers are worthy of their prestigious honor. Following this, the BAFTA members and industry professionals vote and evaluate the eligible masterpieces. And this year the biggest consideration has to be Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, as the entire cast was seen at the screenings, with Blunt and Pugh exchanging hugs in front of the movie’s poster.
Oppenheimer did a business of over $890 million and only missed the billion-dollar mark potentially because of its R-rated format in contrast to Barbie’s family-friendly charm. It also has outstanding reviews from both critics and the audience and boasts a whopping 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. If everything goes well, this could be the second movie of Cillian Murphy scoring a BAFTA nomination this year.
Four months ahead of the release of Oppenheimer, Cillian Murphy received a BAFTA nomination for one of his most popular roles.

Cillian Murphy has had several incredible movies in his illustrious career and has proved his acting prowess again and again. However, it was the Netflix British drama series, Peaky Blinders, that brought him widespread acclaim in the television industry as well. During this year’s BAFTA TV Awards in May, Murphy scored a nomination for his decade-long portrayal of Tommy Shelby. However, he lost the award to Ben Whishaw for the comedy-drama This Is Going to Hurt.
The actor, however, did win a National Television Award for the best drama performance in Peaky Blinders. Murphy never won a British Academy Award, and many fans believe that Murphy’s performance in Oppenheimer is worthy of it. Given his presence at the BAFTA screening, the hope is that with Oppenheimer, Murphy will break his spell of losing at the BAFTAs and emerge victorious!
