‘Oppenheimer’ Director Christopher Nolan Could Helm the Next James Bond, but Not With Henry Cavill as the Face
Henry Cavill left a trail of broken hearts after he announced his departure from two of his most iconic roles, Geralt of Rivia and the Man of Steel. As the speculations regarding Cavill taking on the role of James Bond in Christopher Nolan’s next began to catch on, fans’ blues began to ease up a bit. Long before this, Cavill had been in conversation for the role of the MI6 spy agent long before Daniel Craig took his exit from the franchise.
Henry Cavill was too young for Bond back then, which ultimately went to the older and more experienced Craig. However, even after almost two decades, Cavill may not make the cut to secure a place in Nolan’s version of James Bond.

Ever since the slot for James Bond’s role became available, many actors have been queuing up to take up the mantle in the franchise. However, it seems like the makers may have already chosen the face of 007. Recently, an insider revealed to Daily Mail, “Aaron Taylor-Johnson is currently the hot favorite to step into the iconic role”. The source also shared that the 33-year-old is the first choice of the producer, Barbara Dana Broccoli. But there is a twist.
As per the source, the Oppenheimer director, who will be taking the franchise forward, is looking forward to “doing something very different with the franchise”. This could stand in the way of Johnson landing the part in the movie. The insider further added that the fate of Johnson in the franchise is still in the “grey area” as Nolan is “very particular with who he works with”.
Even though this could kindle a gleam of hope for fans who are expecting Henry Cavill to take on the role of Bond, he may still not be the fitting choice.
The White Wolf may fall short of bagging the role of James Bond yet again
Age is a factor that has always been a thorn in Cavill’s journey in the film industry. Earlier, he missed out on his role as Edwar Cullen from Twilight, as he was too old to play a teenager. Even with the James Bond franchise, earlier he was too young for the role and now he is over the hill. Cavill, who is currently in his 40s, would not be able to be in the franchise for too long, even if he secures the role.

Seeing an older actor, who will soon be in his 50s, playing James Bond, would not align with the role of James Bond. Therefore, even if Cavill lands the role in Nolan’s next, he would have to take his departure from the franchise before he starts getting his silver fox look. However, the 40-year-old is coming forward th the spy franchise, Argylle, which can help fans shrug over their disappointment.
