Did you know that the acting call for Henry Cavill was actually a savior in disguise? Well, not many did before the actor opened up about how his career has been a building block of his identity, charm, and confidence. As once upon a time, the Cavill the world knows today was just a chubby kid who got a lot of heat from his bullies.

Although with his rise to stardom, those are now the things of the past, he once threw light on how the labels became a key to his wavering self-assurance and delayed self-trust.

Before becoming the world’s own Superman, the man behind the cape was not as super as now. Rather, the British charmer was dealing with a hobbled self-esteem and the same was revealed by himself in a 2016 interview with DuJour Magazine. Recalling the bitter days, Cavill stated how he once used to go by the name “fat Cavill” after becoming the “prime target” of juvenile bullies. Few kids even called him out for being a “big eater” who allegedly had “t*ts”.

Cavill brought the reminder of how he has not been the person to “do things in half measures”. As a result, his indulgence with food, alcohol, and even acting per se has received his utmost dedication, which is probably why he felt he “was a fat kid”. Furthermore, due to his challenges of gelling up with girls, he also had been called a “lemon”. Although Cavill emphasized how there had been no “actual bullying” but just people poking fun at his persona, in today’s world, these instances would estimate to nothing less than bullying.

Henry Cavill’s ascent to superstardom did not happen overnight, but when it did, it was a blowback on the faces of haters. Talking to People in 2015, Cavill went all out in expressing how his journey being an overweight kid helped him achieve success and give a deserving answer to his bullies. As a sly mind forever, Cavill used his days of challenges on being the “outskirts of popularity” to his advantage. Resultantly, rather than being a hater of the kids, he became an “observer”.

His insights helped him read people better, ultimately making him a “better actor”. That same year, in an interview with The Sun, the actor admitted how his childhood bullies did a complete about-face once his career took flight. After having “a couple of awkward moments” whenever one of them was in the same room as his, his answer was resolute that “ignorance is bliss”. Revenge is best served cold and Cavill may have brought a winter land to his bullies.
