Proving the earlier reports correct, the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle celebrated turning 42 in an extremely private yet dazzling birthday dinner party. Having her husband by her side as always, the Duchess appeared in all glee as she stunned a posse in Montecito. Adding to her special day were the thousands of fans online who could not help but gush in wishes about the Sussex royal. However, what must have pricked as deep as an arrow was the glaring snub from the royal family. 

Not a single member of the House of Windsor took the pains to write the Duchess a few words. Nonetheless, that has not been the case forever. During her time in the UK, just as she tried her best to make the royal birthdays special, the other members too celebrated hers with heartwarming messages. Or at least, for the sake of it. 

All four prominent members wished Meghan Markle her 40th birthday 

Markle marked her first birthday as a British royal back in 2018. Although there were no big celebrations for the same, the following years proved to be a memorable one for the Duchess. Her beloved Prince Harry took the official Instagram handle to write, “Happy birthday to my amazing wife. Thank you for joining me on this adventure!” Meanwhile, others followed suit. 

Kensington Palace representing the so-called Sussex rivalries, Prince William and Kate Middleton uploaded a story of the Duchess wishing, “a happy 40th Birthday To the Duchess of Sussex!”

The Royal Family account which mostly stands for the Sovereign Buckingham, then, Queen Elizabeth, wrote, “WISHING THE DUCHESS OF SUSSEX A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TODAY!” Clarence House for Prince Charles and wife Camilla also penned a similar wish for Markle. 

That was not the only time. 

Prince William and Kate Middleton had wished the royal post-split amidst tense reports 

Markle’s 40th birthday in 2021 also came post the infamous Megxit. However, as years passed by, the royal feud grew deeper, separating the families at loggerheads. However, both sides maintained the courtesies on the outside. As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attended Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022, Prince William and Kate also paid off their courtesies on Markle’s special day. 

Taking to their Instagram account, the Duke and the Duchess of Cambridge wrote, “Wishing a very happy birthday to The Duchess of Sussex!” while posting a gorgeous picture of Markle in all white. The picture was, in fact, taken from the same platinum Jubilee celebrations, as Markle looked radiant in a white hat and belted coat.
