A lot has been said about Henry Cavill hanging up his red cape after James Gunn took over the DCU. Some say DC Studios did not want him as Clark Kent anymore, while others believe Cavill himself decided to step away. Whatever the real story is, Henry Cavill is not the Man of Steel anymore. But what is unsettling to fans is why Cavill has not been seen at any Superman events or even interacting with people associated with the franchise since he left.

One obvious reason could be that since he is no longer the Superman, he does not want to stay connected with the franchise. However, fans think there might be more to the story than what meets the eye. Cavill reprised his Superman role in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the Justice League movies. He also made a cameo in the Black Adam post-credit scene. It looked like things were going smooth until Cavill made his heartbreaking announcement.

Since then, Cavill has hardly ever spoken about Superman, except for some cheeky jabs. For example, in the Deadpool & Wolverine cameo of The Witcher actor, Ryan Reynolds made a meta-joke, dissing the DCU franchise. Cavill also joked about the infamous mustache drama following his MCU cameo. While introducing a screening of The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, Cavill seemed to hint at his Black Adam cameo, saying, "I don’t have much luck with post-credit scenes". All this has got fans wondering if there is some beef.

In a Reddit gossip thread, fans have been speculating about what went wrong with Henry Cavill, the DCU, and his iconic Superman role. The discourse was sparked by Cavill’s absence from the Superman Conventions next weekend, where many Superman-related celebrities will be in attendance. Some said, “he's just too busy working and too in-demand” and that “It has nothing to do with acrimony,” while others felt that “the split wasn’t amicable” and “he doesn't find it worth it.”

Many fans also guessed that Cavill would rather “prefer to play video games and paint models for Warhammer” than attend such conventions. Meanwhile, others pointed that “he lives in the UK and is usually there when not filming,” which could explain why he is missing the upcoming events. Whatever the truth may be, James Gunn has confirmed he has left the door open for Cavill to explore opportunities in the DCU. Now, whether the actor will take that chance or he has moved on to the MCU remains to be seen.
