Over the years, the cinema world has witnessed both the incoming and evolution of CGI and AI in several projects. Henry Cavill, being a veteran in the acting field, experienced the bitter side of the virtual effects long back in MCU’s creation of the Justice League. The former Superman who was shooting for Mission Impossible: Fallout at the same time, grew a mustache as a requirement for the character. Simultaneously, the reshoots of the Justice League were also in progress.

The result? Cavill succumbed to the poorly done effects which removed the mustache but missed out on perfecting his facial appearance, featuring a swollen upper lip. However, he is not the only one who fell into the trap of struggling with digital simulations in Hollywood. There were three other actors.

The CGI and VFX breakdowns in The Terminator were a stunner, to say the least. But Arnold Schwarzenneger also experienced the pitfall of special effects in his 1990 action flick, Total Recall. In their pursuit of a disguised appearance within the movie, Douglas Quaids opted for a mechanical lady suit, which turned him into a red-headed woman.

Fast forwarding to the moment of shedding of the disguise, an unmasked rubbery face of Schwarzenegger emerges, which, observingly, comes out as a fake and disappointing representation. Notably, it is not clear if it was a CGI effect or not.

The film nevertheless hit a low chord with the poker face reveal of the actor despite its working out of great effects throughout the film. Joining A-listers in the casualty up next is Marvel’s favorite Merc-with-a-mouth, Deadpool starrer Ryan Reynolds.

Ryan Reynolds

Back in 2011, Ryan Reynolds’ meme game took the reverse road as he became the face of one. His DCEU project, Green Lantern, did not sit well with the audience, but even more than that, it failed the mark of CGI effects in many layers. The most basic revelation of their shoddy execution of special effects was the unnatural, shiny spandex suits.

Ryan Reynolds’ Green Lantern costume was a major setback for the depiction in the sense that his head appeared separated from the digital green blob physique underneath. Expectedly, the inadequate blending along with the amateur mask made the movie rather sloppy. But even worse than the goofy green lousy creation was the genie depiction of Will Smith in his movie, Aladdin

A few years ago, Will Smith and Disney shook hands for a nostalgic reprisal of Aladdin’s fantasy land. Not only did it disappoint in the arena of special effects, but also secured its spot in an unending trolling streak with its trailer reveal. Moreover, the faults were so many that it was incredibly difficult to decide where to begin. Firstly, the nightmarish representation of the genie with its wrinkled forehead was disastrous.

Moreover, the depiction was quite hard to pinpoint if it wanted to stand out as a CGI effect or portray something real because of its unfinishedness. Additionally, his smirky expression and the lousy edits featuring the face of the trailer also made fans question the seriousness of it. While many looked forward to a more polished version of the genie snaps, in turn, it ultimately hit the troller’s jackpot of a meme bonanza.
