Not Buckingham, but This Aristocratic Family Welcomes Prince Harry and Meghan Markle For Christmas in the UK
The royal Christmas celebrations are one of a kind. Every year, the family heads to Sandringham House, the late Queen’s country estate in Norfolk, to celebrate the festive season. However, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been missing out on all the fun ever since they left the ranks of the senior royals. The couple now spends their Christmas in Montecito, California, with their kids, rather than flying over to the U.K. to be part of the royals’ festivities. This time around, however, they might have some noble company.

While Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may not be on the best terms with the royals, they have kept close ties with Princess Diana's side of the family. According to the British publication Express, the Duke and Duchess, along with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, have reportedly been invited by Princess Diana's brother, Charles Spencer, to spend the holidays at Althorp this Christmas. "The offer is there if they want it,” said the source.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been hesitant about their trips to the U.K. since they no longer have police protection. But the estranged Duke's bond with his extended family outweighed these concerns, and he set his reservations aside to visit his uncle’s memorial, even with the chance of bumping into Prince William. However, that is not to say that the Duke had any regrets.
Some insiders shared what it was like for Prince Harry to be around the royal family, including his brother, after so much time apart.

Prince Harry has always had his mother’s family in his corner. They even showed up at the Invictus UK event to support the Duke when all the other royals gave him the cold shoulder. Despite this strong bond, many expected Prince Harry to skip his uncle's memorial to avoid any awkward run-ins. But the Duke surprised everyone by attending the funeral of his late uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes. A source told PEOPLE that Prince Harry was “pleased” to have been part of the memorial service, even though other guests were reportedly “astounded.”
Though the royal brothers stood near each other while talking to the crowd, the source did not notice them exchanging words. Still, Prince Harry spent quality time with his mother’s siblings- Lady Jane, Charles Spencer, and Lady Sarah McCorquodale. Seeing his deep connection with probably the last link he has to the royal world, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry might just take up that Christmas invitation after all.
