Jason Bateman may be known for bringing in the charm no matter what role one puts him in, but recently the actor seems to be going down a different path. Three years ago, the Ozark star decided to team up with Will Arnett and Sean Hayes to host a podcast that got candid with other big names in the industry. Most recently, one of the hosts managed to get Matthew McConaughey on the show and surprised the other two.

While the conversation that ensued was intriguing and kept everyone at the edge of their seats, fans also got a deeper understanding of the Dallas Buyers Club star. But it was Bateman’s reaction to McConaughey’s storytelling that had everyone cracking up.

Recently, Matthew McConaughey joined the trio on their podcast, SmartLess, for the second time. This time, they focused on the star’s upbringing and how he made his way into films. The Dazed and Confused actor revealed that his mom had banned him from watching TV as a kid because she believed that he should be going out and figuring out what he could do. He gave the audience a brief of what his early career looked like and then spoke about the comedy side of it.

The narration by the 53-year-old resulted in Jason Bateman agreeing that “there was no risk of embarrassment or shame or making a clown of yourself, it was, you got to pull your pants down to get their attention.” While the choice of words may have thrown a lot of the listeners, Matthew McConaughey wholeheartedly agreed with the 54-year-old. And even went on to tell the audience that he was always forced to “be the subject” but it seems to have worked out in his favour with such a huge career.

Though the actor may have felt bullied, he now refers to it as a “rite of passage” in his family. This episode came two years after the hosts, Will Arnett, Sean Hayes, and Jason Bateman, hit a snag when technical difficulties did not let them chat with Matthew McConaughey.

Jason Bateman had a meltdown on the podcast

A few years ago, back when their podcast, SmartLess was just kicking off, Jason Bateman may have lost his cool when McConaughey laughed at his technical struggles. Since the show usually has only one of the hosts knowing who the guest is, Bateman said, “Let’s cancel” out of frustration. This only led to the Interstellar star bursting out laughing and making the host more annoyed.

After Will Arnett introduced the guest, Bateman revealed that he was “mortified” that the star had to listen to his rant. But though the mess-up might have been hilarious, at least the group got another chance to sit down with McConaughey. And thankfully, this time, there were no technical issues that popped up.
