No “Happy Birthday”? King Charles III and Family Yet to Wish Estranged Prince Harry on 39th Birthday
Birthdays come and go, yet the memories they leave behind last forever. It is a joyous occasion that finds one waking up to the wishes from near and dear ones. However, imagine the feeling of getting snubbed on your birthday. The dread of being non-existent to your immediate family on such a day is haunting. Perhaps this is precisely what Prince Harry may be feeling right now, despite being all smiles in Germany. Nevertheless, if that is not the case, then perhaps the royal rupture has seeded itself deeply enough within the Prince to not even bother anymore.
Whatever may be the case, the fact remains that the Duke did not receive his set of wishes from the royal family and there is a reason as to why.

King Charles III did not publicly wish his son, and neither did Prince William, his brother, on his 39th birthday. The official social media handles of the royal family did not mention the birthday of Prince Harry. While many would adjudicate it to be the rift in the family, the deepest since King Edward VIII’s abdication of the throne, there is a royal loophole. As per tradition, the royal family’s social media handles only address the birthdays of working senior royals, which Prince Harry is not.
As of 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left their official duties as working royals under the late Queen Elizabeth II. To seek a “financially independent” life, the couple moved out to the United States. Thus, they were entitled to no royal perks, which, as it turns out, included no birthday wishes as well. Moreover, the relationship between the Prince of Wales and his royal counterpart was further wounded when Prince Harry made an unsolicited visit to the late Queen’s memorial earlier this month.
The outing was covert and mere hours before his brother, Prince William’s scheduled public visit to the same. Royal experts quickly swooned at the incident and termed it an apparent attempt to undermine the Prince of Wales’ authority. Moreover, media broadcasters too weighed it harshly.
The Duke, however, was not devoid of celebrations despite no royal hoopla. The duo rejoiced in themselves and the Invictus crowd on the former’s birthday.

The Duke recently flagged off the Invictus Games, which Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are attending in Düsseldorf, Germany. The crowd cheered loudly for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, while the royals kept mum. Along the lines of the event, the royal couple were spectators to a volleyball match between Germany and Poland. During the break, the crowd broke in unison to sing “Happy Birthday” to the now 39-year-old Duke.
The sight left him overwhelmed, and a delighted and equally enthralled Duchess rejoiced in too. Moreover, soon after the match, the couple also headed to a German brewery called Schumacher to continue with their celebrations. Despite the royal family’s birthday snub, Prince Harry enjoyed a laid-back party of sorts with the Duchess.
