“900 interviews”- Shawn Levy Puts a Staggering Label on ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’, Picks This One to Be the Best
Deadpool & Wolverine is easily the most anticipated movie of the year; not only in bringing together the wisecracking Merc with a Mouth back on the screens with the Ol’ Canucklehead but also in fueling a torrent of curiosity to attract media monitoring. Shawn Levy, the director of the superhero alliance, recently scooped out by putting a figure on the number of interviews he had done with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman just in time for the movie’s release while nominating what he finds a personal favorite.
While the media’s attention on the Deadpool & Wolverine team has not gone unnoticed by any, Levy’s choice for the best sparks curiosity about the reasons behind his selection.

Shawn Levy recently turned to X to repost Kevin McCarthy’s gesture of gratitude for the Deadpool & Wolverine squad including him, Ryan Reynolds, and Hugh Jackman, who sat with him for an 18-minute interview with Fox 5 Washington DC. “The three of us have done about 900 interviews in the past three weeks,” wrote Levy in his caption before dubbing it the best they had done so far. During the conversation, McCarthy picked a very intriguing question, asking the kind of "catharsis" or therapy the film has brought to the actors.
Levy and Reynolds nominated Jackman to go first who evidently had a great time filming and preparing for his return as Wolverine. He humorously referenced how cities are filled with anger rooms where people pay to break things, but thanks to what he now calls a romantic comedy, he got paid to do just that. But on a more serious note, he shared his belief that every role has a purpose that brings fulfillment and teaches a lesson. For Jackman, both playing and returning as Wolverine has been the lesson of a lifetime.
McCarthy then redirected the question to the Deadpool actor, Reynolds, asking him about the unburdening that came with the character of Merc with a Mouth.

In his conversation with Fox 5 Washington DC's Kevin McCarthy, alongside Hugh Jackman and Shawn Levy, Ryan Reynolds was asked about the sense of liberation Deadpool has brought him. Reynolds, who had come to terms with this source of relief about a decade ago, revealed he has never felt "freer" than when donning the red and black latex suit. Reynolds explained that playing Deadpool has been a journey of personal purification, facilitated by the mask and “the mask under that mask”.
He acknowledged that while it may sound "weird," he loves the "clown work" and the freedom it provides. Shawn Levy added that if an actor's face is taken away, all that remains is their voice and physicality—areas in which Reynolds excels as Deadpool. With Jackman and Reynolds' catharsis now understood, the only one missing was Levy's. Perhaps Levy's reasons for favoring this interview were rooted in his own sense of fulfillment.
