However, after DC Comics announced their venturing into Nightwing’s storyline with the web-comic Nothing Butt Nightwing, Nightwing fans flooded social media, frustrated by the title choice.

Meta jokes are not exactly new to the comic scene, but Nightwing fans were not having it this time. They made their feelings loud and clear with their reactions online.

Among all the heroes and superheroes in DC’s universe, known for their flashy costumes or extraordinary powers, Nightwing has earned a rather unexpected reputation—thanks to his backside stealing the spotlight. While some might view it as a tactical flaw, DC’s launch of the web-comic Nothing Butt Nightwing as per AIPT's report, turned his character into the bu-- of a joke, and fans were not at all sold on it.

Many fans felt the studio could have easily avoided making the obvious joke, while others insisted no matter how many jokes are made about Nightwing, he should never be reduced to one. 

It was not just Nightwing fans feeling salty, though. Comic lovers, in general, shared a bit of their frustration over the title. Although this year, DC fans have been blessed with both, good as well as bad, with memes at the ready to take on DC's bu-- joke, it might not be long before the studio starts paying attention to the fans' growing irritation.

According to a recent AIPT report, DC Comics has introduced DC GO!, a collection of web-comics made for mobile devices as part of DC Universe Infinite. Launching on November 20, DC GO! will feature a mix of new original series and vertically reformatted classics from DC and MAD Magazine. The first three series to drop are Nothing Butt Nightwing, Renaissance of Raven, and Harley Quinn in Paradise.

Global Publishing Innovation group editor Katie Kubert explained that these web-comics are fresh weekly stories tailored for mobile readers to appeal to fans of different genres. In Nothing Butt Nightwing, after several failed civilian careers, Nightwing scores his biggest undercover gig yet—working as an international supermodel. And for those who thought the title was just a gag, it turns out Dick Grayson’s backside spotlight comes from his first job modeling in an underwear ad!
