“Never ever ever happens”- Why Are Fans Already Rejecting a M. Night Shyamalan Movie Amidst 'The Mutant Saga' Rumors?
From Henry Cavill getting replaced as Superman in DC to Rey's parents being nobodies in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the superhero comic fandom as divided as it may be can undoubtedly agree that certain moments such as the ones mentioned above just should not have happened. While these mistakes have been made, and fans are yet to be ok and all right, with Marvel tiptoeing toward its next grand chapter, mutants, the fandom is sharpening its proverbial pitchforks, ready to uproot any plot twist that smacks of M. Night Shyamalan’s knack for bewilderment.
Credited among one of the finer directors once upon a time, M. Night Shyamalan, much like certain superhero studios, has had a fall from grace in recent years. With "I see dead people" still quite literally being roared by the masses, albeit due to different reasons, in 2024, there is no denying M. Night Shyamalan's directive prowess. However, keeping in mind his ability to throw the ball not just out of the park, but out of boundary, a collaboration with him and Marvel would land, as fans suspect, in a black hole.
Even before Marvel could finish saying M. Night Shyamalan, fans on X have their vetoes in hand, hoping to keep their heroes intact, and their plots at least remotely sane.
Fans reveal unhinged verdicts on an M. Night Shyamalan directed Marvel Mutant Saga movie
After an extended lull in the box office business owing to one of its most successful phases meeting its end, Marvel is trying to pull every trick in the book to land as far from it as possible. This was clear in the star packed cameos of Deadpool & Wolverine and their desperate attempt to cash off Robert Downey Jr.'s legacy as they brought him back. While fans even enjoyed these attempts to a certain extent, they have ample reasons to believe that M. Night Shyamalan and Marvel are not a match, let alone one made in heaven.
While some fans begged for that the movie "never ever ever happens," others cited the example of The Last Airbender movie and how the director had supposedly ruined something precious to its fans.

Despite the agony of uproar, the arsenal of certain fans was cemented in the belief that a Marvel movie directed by M. Night Shyamalan could be the greatest of all time, going as far as to say that while it may not be Shyamalan's best movie, it would definitely be Marvel's. The combination of dissent and approval for Shyamalan is perhaps as twisted as any of the director's plot twists itself.
