There is always that one thing we can never get enough of. We leave it so much and so dearly that it becomes an obsession. No matter how many times we see, do, or watch it, everything still feels new. And one of our favorite royals has a similar obsession too. Do you remember the time when Meghan Markle watched Hamilton? The Duchess of Sussex is surely obsessed with the play, but there was one time she watched it yet again, not for her love for the play but for a really special cause. 

Let’s rewind: Meghan Markle once watched Hamilton for a noble cause

Back in 2018, Kensington Palace announced that the Duke and Duchess will be watching Hamilton, but this time for a special cause. The evening of the screening was organized to raise funds for Prince Harry’s charity, Sentebale, as reported by PEOPLE. The Prince’s long-time charity was set up along with his friend Prince Seeiso of Lesotho. London’s Victoria Palace Theatre was the location of the screening, and the evening had the couple and creator of the play, Lin-Manuel Miranda, as the guest of honor.

Notably, Sentebale aims to help children and young people or Lesotho and Botswana who are affected by AIDS. Prince Harry also took a solo trip to Africa to open a school and a house on behalf of the charity.

Post the play, Prince Harry joined the cast on stage to thank them for doing this for the cause. He also went ahead speaking George III’s iconic line from the play, “You say..”, a Kensington Palace insider reported. The Sussexes were all smiles while posing for the crew. As per reporters, the energy inside was just ‘unreal’.

While as for the Duchess, this was not the first time she watched the play.

Markle and Prince Harry’s Hamilton date

Back in 2018, the Duke and Duchess went on a Hamilton date ahead of their engagement. Their presence thrilled the cast and were met with much love and admiration. The Duchess has also seen the play with her long-time friend Priyanka Chopra-Jonas in New York. She also shared a picture with the actress before she deleted her Instagram. Being the Duchess’ favorite musical, she was excited to see the reaction of the British audience to the play at the charity event. 

Hamilton is a play that talks about Alexander Hamilton, the founding father of America. The play also talks about Prince Harry’s ancestor, George III, in a humorous light. Recently, there have been talks about King George III ever since the release of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgeton Story, which featured a lot of steamy scenes. Corey Mylchreest played the character of George III and shared his own hilarious views about the steamy scene in the show.
