What goes around comes around and at the 30th Annual SAG Awards, something similar took place for Dagmara Domińczyk with Colman Domingo, the Rustin actor. The special thing about every year’s accolade period is how a tinge of flashback always makes a recurrence. Whether it is from the nostalgic memory sweep of the stars lost or something utterly personal, the trophy season holds the capacity to witness history and imitate like no other event.

For Domińczyk as well, the SAG night was not only about her hands on the trophy but a special trip down memory lane as was uniquely acknowledged by her on her socials.

How the SAG Awards brought a token of nostalgia for Dagmara Domińczyk 

Last night was all starry for the Succession actress, Dagmara Domińczyk, as she won the SAG Award for Best Ensemble in a Drama Series. However, besides the victory, there was another reason why the Polish actress got all emotional. Taking to her X (formerly Twitter) handle, she shared the reason with her fans. Recalling the “heart torn” situation after her father’s passing a year ago, the actor talked with Domingo about her father’s connection to Bayard Rustin, whom he met in Poland. 

Domińczyk described how this exchange with Colman Domingo, the Rustin actor, at the SAG Awards, brought her to a “full-circle moment”. Domińczyk’s father, who was also a politician, possibly met Rustin years ago. Pressing on how his death had left a hole in her heart a year ago, the actress now felt relief, most surprisingly, when the old connections found reprisal in a new avenue. As Dominczyk told the tale of the real personality to the reel depictor, once again it was clear that for stars, cinematic truth is not just for the screen.

While Domińczyk marked her space with a SAG win, Domingo, unfortunately, could not. However, since Rustin has an Oscar nomination, Domingo might get a chance to change the narrative.

Rustin at the 96th Oscar Awards

Colman Domingo’s stunning performance in Rustin has not only got him the strings of praise but even mention-worthy nominations in various award ceremonies. Although he could not bag the win for the Best Actor category as Cillian Murphy was a winner for that segment, Domingo still has a chance to recover with a win for the upcoming Oscars. 

The actor is on the nominee list for the same segment of Best Actor in the Academy Awards as well. There, too, the Irish and the American actor will face off for another cinematic combat. While 2024 has been Murphy’s year of bagging the category across every event, it is now time to wait and watch if Domingo does the unthinkable. Should he succeed, this could be a game-changer for Domingo’s acting resume and Oscar’s history.
