“My body doesn’t...” - Antony Starr Brutally Discards James Gunn’s DCU Booster Gold Hype
The Boys has pulled off something that neither Marvel nor DC could ever dare to. Yet, there are always comparisons drawn between these three cinematic universes because of The Boys’ satirical jabs at these two studios. Antony Starr, known for playing The Boys' Seven leader, Homelander, also a hilarious parody of Superman gone bad, has caught the eye of DC fans as a potential fit for the cocky time-traveler Booster Gold in James Gunn’s universe.
The actor has finally broken his silence on the rumor of him potentially taking on the role of a superhero or supervillain in the DCU after Homelander.

The rumors of Antony Starr potentially making the move from Homelander to a DC character began circulating in May. Recently, Starr appeared for a conversation with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast alongside The Boys cast, where he dismissed the rumors once and for all. When Horowitz asked the actor about suiting up as Booster Gold, Starr seemed unaware of what the host was referencing. Upon learning about the DC character, the 48-year-old stated, “I am getting old and my body doesn’t want to do much action anymore.”
Starr specified that he would rather take on roles that have more to do with sitting and ordering. “I want to sit and go, ‘Hey, you! Go and do all that stuff!’", added the actor. Starr made it clear that he is not interested in being lined up for Booster Gold’s role. However, the Gutterbee actor is not completely disconnected from DC, particularly from DC’s new mastermind, James Gunn. In fact, it was his bond with Gunn that first sparked the rumors of him debuting in the universe.
In an interview conducted earlier this year, Antony Starr shed light on his friendship with James Gunn and his thoughts about DC.

In May, James Gunn and Antony Starr started following each other on social media, which did not escape fans’ notice. This led people to speculate that the actor has been cast for a role in the interconnected DCU that Gunn is heading with Peter Safran, especially considering that The Boys is nearing its end. During a conversation with ComicBook, Starr revealed, “Me and James just play golf,” before showering his golf buddy with praise.
Starr praised Gunn’s abilities as a director, producer, and talent, calling him “phenomenal”. He also expressed excitement about what the DCU has to offer, saying, “I'm excited to see what he cooks up”. However, much like the recent interview with Josh Horowitz, Starr chose to dismiss the rumors about him being cast as DCU’s Booster Gold.
