Who can forget the disappointment fans felt when Henry Cavill announced that he would not reprise his role as Superman? For close to a decade, he was the only one that fans could picture playing the DC superhero. But all of that came to an end when DC announced its plans to revamp the iconic universe completely. Unlike Marvel, instead of leaving characters behind and moving on to a new story, they went a different route with James Gunn and his choice for the character, David Corenswet.

While fans were initially unhappy with the new casting choices, it looks like Corenswet might be changing minds after all. The star had been spotted in California, rocking a much different look than before. Apart from being bulked up for his role, he also sported a full beard. But to everyone’s surprise, the actor bore a striking resemblance to the ex-Superman, Henry Cavill.

Although fans were once completely against David Corenswet taking up the role in Gunn’s upcoming Superman: Legacy, the latest images of the star seem to be changing their minds. With such a close resemblance to the fan favorite, it is no wonder that everyone was left jaw-dropped at the 30-year-old’s sudden transformation. He also may have left social media users feeling a little sentimental over the likeness between the two.

Just like any Superman update fans have been getting, this one comes after months of fans demanding that Cavill be given back the iconic role that helped kickstart his career.

While the photos may have been a little grainy, one thing was evident. The actor sported a look very similar to Cavill back when he was shooting his films. The Affairs of State actor’s drastic alteration of appearance left a lot of users stunned by the eerie resemblance.

While most users could not help but do a second take at the pictures, others could only focus on the efforts Corenswet has been putting in ahead of his role.

However, some users were still struggling with the fact that Henry Cavill had been replaced by a new Superman.

While fans may still be split over David Corenswet portraying Superman, the new pictures might change their minds. The star has now proved that he is definitely making efforts to be at his best. It might also be possible that the young Superman might be sporting a beard in the upcoming film, as he did in the pictures. While James Gunn recently teased the costume for the new hero in the cape, it will still be a long wait until fans know about the beard and the costume, probably in July 2025.
