Ever since the release of her docuseries, Harry & Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, has taken a break from the public eye. Even at King Charles’ coronation, the Duchess was absent, as Prince Harry was spotted alone. Except for some occasional spotting of the Duchess, there were no official appearances made by her. But all of that came to an end on Tuesday night.

Meghan Markle received the Ms. Foundation’s Women of Vision Award with Prince Harry and her mother Doria Ragland in New York. She dazzled in a golden strapless gown by Johanna Ortiz. There was no doubt that everyone fell in love with how graceful and breathtaking the Duchess looked. Her dress was the center of attraction and fans couldn’t get enough of it. However, it was Markle’s special tribute to her mothers that shined brighter than her dress.

Near Mother’s Day, the Duchess of Sussex made a point to honor her mother and late mother-in-law in her own sweet way as reported by PEOPLE. In her speech, Markle honored her mom, Doria Ragland, while recounting the significance of Ms. magazine at home. She described how her mother had subscriptions to magazines that had Ms written on them. These magazines featured anything and everything: from congresswomen to working women to issues of domestic abuse.

This helped her to understand that there was more to life than “he dolled-up covers and the images that you would see on the grocery store covers.” “But I also knew that to my mom, to my dear mom, who I’m honored to have with me tonight, I knew the significance of these magazines was important,” she added.

Not only this, but the Duchess also honored Princess Diana by wearing her shimmering tennis bracelet. She also wore her bracelet at Oprah Winfrey’s interview with Prince Harry. For Markle’s engagement ring, Prince Harry took three diamonds from the tennis bracelet. Due to this, the bracelet is of utmost importance for the Sussexes.

The 2023 Women of Vision Awards: Celebrating Generations of Progress & Power marked its 50th anniversary this year. The Duchess was honored for her philanthropy for micro and macro communities and women’s empowerment. Despite having delivered a powerful speech and serving an impressive look at the event, the night post the event was not as pleasant for the Sussexes.
