If Hollywood proved anything when it comes to artistry, it is that these creatives refuse to be confined to just one craft. Showbiz has many names of stars who ventured beyond the spotlight, branching out into diverse directions, but a rare few take the plunge into action and film-making simultaneously. Hollywood, however, is no stranger to defying conventions, and in the midst of it all shines a star like Mikey Madison, whose passion for art sparkles as brightly as her on-screen presence.

Speaking about her dream to collaborate with Luca Guadagnino, Madison offered a glimpse into her bold and expansive vision, carving her path through Hollywood.

In a recent heart-to-heart conversation with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Mikey Madison reflected on working with Sean Bakers for Anora, calling it a “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity. Talking about discovering more like-minded people who appreciate and live for the “classic way of film-making,” Madison fairly warned about the long list of people she dreams of working with one day, including Luca Guadagnino. Although she acknowledged namedropping him too many times, she could not resist gushing about his work.

“He’s a beautiful filmmaker,” Madison stated as Horowitz praised Guadagnino’s specialty of recognizing “all the facets of youth.” Reflecting on how characters below 25 are usually treated on the surface level, Horowitz reminded Guadagnino is the only filmmaker who does not believe in half-baked products. The director knows how to tap into the emotional depth of young actors and gives them the respect they deserve, making him the top pick in their collaborative bucket list.

Though Madison shared the limelight with Marianne Jean-Baptiste for Hard Truths, Anora was not ready to do the same for the Best Picture win. Sean Bakers received runner-up for Best Director and Screenplay categories while her co-star Yura Borisov won Best Supporting Performance alongside Kieran Culkin for A Real Pain. From what it looks, Madison is making the awards season her own, and with her trailblazing spirit, it is only a matter of time before she secures a spot in Luca Guadagnino’s world of vision.
