“So we have..” – James Gunn Answers a Fan Question About Batman’s Age in the New DCU
The new DCU world of James Gunn is still a work in progress. The director, writer, and new in charge has a ten-year-long supervision to completely transform DC into the way we know it. This transformation includes everything from changing cast, characters, and even the little aspects of them. Everyone from Superman to Batman and Superwoman will appear in new and, most likely, younger avatars.
Even Henry Cavill’s exit from Man of Steel 2 came as a result of the age factor. It has been months since then and fans have continued to speculate what the future will look like. So when one of them asked James Gunn about Batman’s age in his universe, this is what he had to say.
How old will Batman be now that James Gunn is in control?

As DC gets transformed to put up with the competition, James Gunn has been quite vocal about it. He even responds to fans on social media and one such had a question about Batman’s age in The Brave and The Bold. Gunn replied by confessing how they themselves do not have an idea yet, as no replacement for Ben Affleck has been found yet. “We haven’t cast him yet so we have no clue,” Gunn wrote on May 17.
Back in February, Gunn answered a similar question through a tweet in which he said, “MIGHT be a couple years older than Superman.” This means that Batman could be in his early 40s if Superman is in his 30s. As for the flying superhero, Superman: Legacy will require someone to fit into Henry Cavill’s shoes, with a number of potential actors lined up. Not only their age, but their personalities will also be more lovable and buildable to run for the next decade.
The new DC Universe will explore chapters from the comic books, picking up angles to begin movies in a sequence. Here is what The Brave and The Bold could be about.

A look into the future DC movies
The next Batman movie is set to pick the angle from the 2006 arc of ‘Batman and Son’. It will be part of DC’s first chapter, named Gods and Monsters. The much-loved son Damian Wayne, the fifth Robin, will also be part of the movie, casting for which also remains.
Along with Superman and Batman, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will release for the continued story of Superwoman. CEO David Zaslav has shown great trust and has admired the work put in by Gunn and Peter Safran so far.
