The Duke of Sussex Prince Harry has got to go a long way in his legal fight against the Murdoch Papers. However, things seem to be favoring his side, at least for the time being. His battle with the UK tabloids shook the royal fanbase as the Duke unleashed some stirring unheard facts about the royal family and its link with the publications. For those unversed, the Duke had reported exposing his estranged brother, Prince of Wales, Prince William, and also the internal links between King Charles and the tabloids. His primary target among all the royal scandals flashed in newspapers was the persistent phone-hacking series that made all their lives quite chaotic.
Fighting for it all alone, the man on the mission sued the Murdoch Papers, Mirror Groups, and the Associated Group Newspaper in respective lawsuits. Nonetheless, it was the Mirror that took all the hits for obtaining the phone call records of the members of the royal family time and again. The Duke claimed that the newsgroup had all those records “obtained illegally” from insiders. And that the methods that they tried to invade the royals’ privacy were straight-up unlawful.

However, it seems as if the claims were not all for nothing. As reported by the BBC, the Mirror publishers have caved in admitting their method of obtaining the phone records in the past. The group has thus apologized to the Prince for their “most intrusive methods”. In a written statement, the MGN stated that it “unreservedly apologizes” for one instance of unlawful information gathering against Harry. And said that the legal challenge brought by the prince “warrants compensation“.
However, the latest counterattack by the defendant seems to have backfired on the Duke.

The MGN lawyers went on to argue that it was not all instances that they relied on unethical means. The story revolving around Prince Harry’s former girlfriend was obtained by lawful means; the group claimed. The story hit the bars through People Magazine. Prior to the same, the high court judge had discarded Prince Harry’s evidence to be not enough.

According to reports, the news agency also denied other allegations of voicemail interceptions involving Prince Harry. The group has steered clear of any unlawful activities except the one instance that they have unreservedly apologized.
