Long before her stint on NBC’s The Office, Melora Hardin starred in the iconic sitcom Friends. While she was only in one episode of the show, she left a lasting mark on the audience as her character was a little sexually forward. However, years after playing Celia on the show, the actress opened up about the role and her connection to David Schwimmer.

While the world watched the characters go on a “date” all those years ago, she revealed that the date had happened once in real life. Although, it went better than their time on the show.

Melora Hardin discussed her connection with David Schwimmer

In an interview with MediaVillage last year, Melora Hardin talked about her time on Friends, David Schwimmer, and working with an animal on set. During the conversation, she revealed that she and the actor went way back before either of them had their big break. She even said that they were “introduced through a mutual friend” and that they “went on a date.”

Hardin went on to say that he was a “senior in high school,” and she “was in the 11th grade.” While the date was “fine,” they ended up just being friends after it. She also revealed that they seemed to stay in touch over the years, as she knew about his auditions for the beloved TV show and more. The actress also “tested for five pilots” that year, but she did not land any of them.

While that might have been a demotivator, it ended up being a good thing as it left her schedule open for NBC’s Friends.

How Hardin landed her role on Friends

After many failed auditions, Melora Hardin auditioned for a role on Friends. Although one of her good friends, David Schwimmer, already had his foot in the door, the actress did everything by herself. She went in, auditioned, and got the role. Shortly after that, the world got to see her in the first season of the show in an episode that was titled The One with the Stoned Guy.

In the episode, she played the role of Ross Gellar’s co-worker in the museum, Celia. While David Schwimmer’s character already thought that she was weird because of her obsession with bugs, things only got worse when she expressed her love of dirty talk. After that, the date spiraled a little out of control, with her getting attacked by Gellar’s pet monkey, Marcel.
