Suits, the ever-popular legal drama, officially wrapped up its successful run in 2019. But it left behind a lasting camaraderie among its cast members. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s royal wedding was a grand spectacle that laid bare the Duchess’s inner circle, including the employees at Pearson Hardman — or Pearson Specter Litt. Although Markle counts the entire cast as friends, there is one among them who has been by her side since long before she even got her start in Aaron Korsh’s series.

Not only has she stood up for Meghan Markle in the face of bullying allegations but has been a rock for her during the toughest times.

The whole story about Meghan Markle’s journey bonding with her Suits BFF and co-star was spilled on The Kelly Clarkson show just a few hours ago. The friend in question here is Abigail Spencer, who played Dana Scott in the fictional New York City corporate law firm. On a February 26th episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Spencer shared that she met Markle in 2007 during a pilot audition for NBC and immediately felt a “connection“. Their bond further “deepened” and “developed” while working in the TV series Suits.

Fans got the full picture of their bond in 2021 when Spencer poured her heart out in an Instagram caption and wrote a lengthy post for Markle. From calling her “an on-call friend” to a “safe harbor” in front of whom she “can fall apart“, Spencer really showed her genuine regard for the former actress. Nonetheless, Suits would always be an important chapter in this friendship, and Spencer, last month, shared her “layered” opinions about why the show is still so popular, even after nearly half a decade of its end.

Last month, Abigail Spencer made a special appearance on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show, where she attributed Suits‘ resurgence in streaming numbers to Meghan Markle’s charisma. She also suggested that the Sussexes’ Netflix docuseries might have contributed to the renewed interest, given the shared streaming platform. As per Spencer, Netflix strategically promoted the nine-season show during last year’s writers and actors strike.

Markle, however, offered a differing view at Variety’s Power of Women Event, crediting Suits‘ revival to its binge-worthy nature. This resurgence of the show stirred speculation about Markle’s potential comeback as an actress. Nonetheless, that prospect was dashed by Suits co-star, Rachael Harris, as she confirmed “no one from the previous cast is going to be in Suits LA” to Mirror. Although fans may not see Spencer and Markle reunite on screen, their enduring friendship will hopefully endure for decades to come.
