In a cinematic twist of fate, long before her reign as a Duchess, Meghan Markle played an unconventional role at Robin Thicke’s wedding. The Duchess, who never curbed her expectations or waited for a prince charming at any point in her life, worked various jobs in the city of stars to provide for herself as she struggled to make it big. One such odd job as Robin Thicke would go on to reveal in his US Weekly’s ’25 Things You Don’t Know About Me’ feature was writing wedding invitations in calligraphy at his wedding.
Meghan Markle had already narrated the story in her 2013 interview with Esquire. “I didn’t wait tables,” she said as she went on to reveal that she instead did calligraphy for weddings and that one of them was, in fact, that of Robin Thicke and Paula Patton. Looking back, it is incredible to see how the once-struggling actress paved a respectable pathway for herself that would have no doubt taken her to great places even if she had not met Prince Harry.
Working odd jobs before finding a place in the royal family is not the only aspect of Meghan Markle’s life that seems like an abstract from a modern Cinderella tale.

From a very young age, Cinderella inspired Meghan Markle, even though she may see more of herself in the Little Mermaid. While the former actress has not complained about a troubled childhood, she did reveal in her Oprah Winfrey interview that it was quite difficult, as her father was not around. The debate surrounding whether this is true is still ongoing. But even apart from that, Markle’s father has stirred as much trouble for the Duchess as Cinderella’s stepmother by collaborating with her most outspoken critic, Piers Morgan.
While there are many similarities between Meghan Markle’s life and that of Cinderella, there is also a glaring difference. One managed to have a happily ever after while the other constantly finds herself being thrown back into troubled waters. But for all the hardships that come her way, be it through her calligraphy skills or media savvy, the Duchess of Sussex always perseveres.
