Meghan Markle Was Not the Only Estranged Duchess Missing From King Charles’ Coronation Ceremony
King Charles’ grandeur and vigor echoed through the streets of the United Kingdom as the monarch took his oath in service of the kingdom. While the members of the House of Windsor and numerous aristocrats graced the royal spectacle, the room was quite slimmed down indeed. Although the newly crowned monarch had all of his own, he did miss out on some of the most notable members of the royal family. While we all think Meghan Markle was the only member to miss such a historic event, she was not alone. The coronation welcomed the estranged Prince Harry and Prince Andrew with open arms. However, their other halves did not appear on the grand occasion.
Three most prominent members of the royal family held back from rejoicing in the King’s coronation. While one was certainly the Duchess of Sussex, the second figure was the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson. Two of the estranged royal brides share similar relationships with the royal family. However, the Sussexes lead an overwhelmingly positive marital life. And that is not the case with the Yorks.
Meanwhile, the third not-so-important but definitely a notable figure for the royals, Charles Spencer too was not among the 2200 guests at the Westminster Abbey. For the unversed, Charles Spencer, as many would have guessed by the title, is Princess Diana’s brother. The former Princess of Wales, who is still imprinted in the subjects as the People’s Princess, had no one else but her brother standing by her through the thick and thin of her life.

As reported by People Magazine, the Duchess of Sussex had herself refrained from attending King Charles’ coronation. While recollections still vary, the genuine reason behind the decision was the fourth birthday of her firstborn, Prince Archie of Sussex. On the other hand, the estranged Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson was not invited to the church in the first place.

Fergie, on her account, had made it pretty sure that she doesn’t want it both ways. “You can’t be divorced and say ‘I want this,‘” clarified the Duchess to ITV Talk Show in April. Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew parted ways back in 1996. Ever since, Fergie had been continuing her life in the United States while controversies have become a regular pastime for the divorced Prince.
