As if the $20 million deal termination with their best partner Spotify and allegations about their dwindling relations with Netflix was not enough, the Sussexes have another bad news before them. The slow decline of public support for the couple was no surprise in the United Kingdom. But then, their whooping multi-million deals had garnered Prince Harry and Meghan Markle much fanfare. However, little did anyone think that the spike rate would hit the ground so quickly. And the new polls have confirmed just that. With the allegations at their projects and the swirling controversies, the pair’s popularity has been going down massively.

YouGov is a global public opinion and data company that is well-known for its public surveys. The same organization recently conducted a public poll on June 7th and June 8th and the results from Britain were not as surprising. The charts clearly showed the Duchess’ net positivity rating going down by 6 points from the last poll held in April. It stands at -47 currently and its Meghan Markle’s lowest recorded after -46% in January. YouGov’s June data also shows that Prince Harry too saw a drop in his ratings as he stands at -36% compared to -34% in April.

Reports by Newsweek suggest that the first time when the Duchess saw declining positivity scores was after Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare hit the shelves in January. The second massive decline happened after Meghan Markle suffered what their spokesperson described as a ‘near catastrophic‘. Two-hour paparazzi car chase through New York City sparked a fresh wave of controversy earlier this year. The Briton commentators suggested that the story was a mere exaggeration. They wanted to draw public attention by drawing similarities with the car accident that claimed Princess Diana’s life in 1997, claimed the critics.

The same was also run for another survey, but this time among the Americans. When compared to polling from the States, 52% of Americans believed that the couple’s car chase incident was true. And that both the Duke and the Duchess have relatively positive ratings in the States.
Polls from Newsweekly in December 2022 showed Prince Harry’s rating at + 38 and Meghan Markle’s at +23.

It is speculated that the couple had more popularity before their bombshell documentary, Harry & Meghan, was released on Netflix. Since then, the positive ratings have only gone down. The tell-all six-part docuseries that sent shockwaves around the world won many hearts across the pool. However, it also pushed their trenchant critics to stick together.
