Giving back has been a big part of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s journey, both during their royal days and since they decided to step back from the fold. Both Sussexes are committed to practicing what they preach and have consistently raised awareness about the struggles of women, especially mothers, in contemporary society. Going a step further in their advocacy, the Duke and the Duchess have recently teamed up with actor Geena Davis and Moms First, a longtime charity partner of the Archewell Foundation.

Last Thursday, Moms First and the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media shared some findings from their new study. The report showed that the representation of mothers on television is highly out of touch with reality. During her latest press conference at the SXSW Festival, the Duchess outlined “three key reasons” for her participation in this initiative. First was her drive to get insights into women’s lives and “shared experiences“. Secondly, she wanted to point out the inaccuracies in how women are shown on TV.

Last but not least, she wanted to stand up for women, especially mothers. The report brought attention to the deficiencies that require addressing to achieve genuine representation in the content people create and consume. The Duchess expressed her pride in being able to contribute to the report through her Archewell Foundation. However, this was not the only time Meghan Markle championed issues that affect parents.
