Over the years, many experts and fans have accused the Sussexes of milking their royal titles for all they are worth. However, the calls for stripping the couple- or more pointedly Meghan Markle- off the royal status have never been louder. Recently, some eye-opening reports about the Duchess of Sussex have caused a storm among people who were already not big fans of the former actress. And now, a well-known royal commentator and former aide to Margaret Thatcher has thrown their voice into the discourse as well.

The expert has delivered some biting remarks about Markle and questioned why she should be allowed to flaunt the royal label anymore.

A source close to the Sussexes recently did an exposé on Meghan Markle for The Hollywood Reporter. Reacting to the report, Nile Gardiner took to X and declared that “Meghan Markle should have her royal title removed,” saying she is not worthy of it. Gardiner criticized her for alleged "bullying behavior, relentless narcissism" and "vicious attacks on the Royal Family"- calling them a “disgrace” to the title.

The insider’s exposé painted Markle as a “dictator in high heels” who has reduced “grown men to tears.” It provided a detailed look at how the 43-year-old mistreats her staff and “belittles" them. The source also described Prince Harry as a “very charming person” but hinted that he has little say over his wife. But- even if the naysayers get their way and the title is stripped—what would really happen?

Earlier this year, a royal expert revealed what Meghan Markle would be called if she no longer went by the ‘Duchess of Sussex’ title.

Kinsey Schofield, the To Di For Daily podcast host, said that stripping the Sussexes off their royal titles would not make Meghan Markle just ‘Meghan Markle’ all over again. The Prince title cannot be removed from the Duke’s name, given that it is his birthright. Therefore, Markle would still be known as "Princess Henry", while Prince Harry would be called “Prince Henry.” However, it does not seem likely to happen.

Schofield told Fox News Digital that the royals do not really care about the Sussexes’ title and have not had that conversation in years, despite all the accusations about the couple cashing in on their titles. “That is simply not a priority for them at this time,” said the royal expert. So, no matter how much critics howl about removing the Sussexes’ royal titles, the royal family is unlikely to go down that petty road.
